Android 4.0 Coming to Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi foundation has just announced that a version of Android 4.0 is being ported to Raspberry Pi. As you can see from the photos/videos it uses the mouse not a touch screen. I'm guessing if you have a touch screen for your Raspi it'll use it.
Why do I find this interesting from a C/C++ perspective anyway? Android is programmed in Java, except for native client games which use the Android NDKwhich lets you program parts or all in C/C++.
It does make you wonder if Android will be a more popular OS for Raspberry Pi than Linux. I really can't call that one!
